Synthesis Collection: Woven Bowls & Plates
I was commissioned by Kazi Goods to conceptualize patterns for their Fall/Winter 2022 collection of hand woven bowls and plates. You may view the full Synthesis Collection here.
“In order to create change in the world, we must work together. The harmony between bold and soft tones creates an electricity that can spark innovation. We feel a need to stretch beyond what we thought was possible. Break free and energize your soul with the Synthesis Collection.”
Kazi Goods is a fair trade artisan shop based in San Diego. It was an honor to work with them remotely during the pandemic. After several Zoom calls with Amber & Bethany who gave the creative direction, we were able to birth the Synthesis Collection.
I recently saw these hand woven pieces beautifully displayed at the de Young Museum gift shop in San Francisco. I was so happy to see these up close as it took roughly a year to produce! Looking at each piece, you can tell that the artisans from sub-Saharan Africa are so skilled in their craft.
